THE number of people claiming unemployment benefit in Evesham during September was 391 - 64 fewer than during the same month the previous year.
The latest figure, made up of 283 men and 108 women, meant 1.1% of people in the town's travel to work area are registered as unemployed.
Across the Mid-Worcestershire Parliamentary constituency, there are 669 people out of work - a provisional rate of 1.3%. In that total, 478 are men, while 191 are women. Overall, the figure was 105 fewer than 12 months earlier.
Worcestershire-wide, 5,614 people are registered as benefit claimants - 2.1% of the county's population. There are 818 people - or 1.4% - jobless people in the Wychavon district. That is 114 fewer than in September 2000.
