AS the president was on holiday in Brazil, the October meeting was taken by May Lloyd.
The second newsletter had been produced and was on sale to members at 20p.
Coming up soon are the group meeting and half-yearly council meeting.
Tickets for the Christmas carol service are on sale. Names were also taken for the Christmas lunch at Webbs Garden Centre.
Speaker Brian Owen told of his life as a teacher and headmaster in boys' approved schools, where youngsters who had offended were sent for correction and reform.
Not all were success stories but many young lives were turned around by this treatment.
Life had its funny side too as pupils and masters tried to outwit each other.
The competition was won by E Harris, who also won flower of the month.
Next month is the AGM and volunteers to join the committee are needed. Members and friends are welcome on November 12.
