Bretforton 2,
Wootton Bassett 3
WOOTTON piled on the early pressure and, after weathering the storm, a quick break and excellent stick work from Deb Slatter set up the opening goal for Sarah Hall.
Slick one-touch passing brought the visitors the equaliser before the interval and the second half opened with Bretforton again under pressure.
A second goal inevitably arrived followed by a third from a defensive mix-up.
Bret, however, continued to attack and were rewarded with a short corner five minutes from time. The corner was executed in text-book fashion with Julie Hall sending out the perfect ball to Sophie Corbett who stopped it for player of the match Jane Wheeler to strike a hard dipping shot into the back of the net.
This goal gave the home team side a renewed energy and they produced several more attacks but these were to no avail.
Bretforton II 1, Painswick 0
HAVING lost their main goalscorer in the last few weeks, Sarah Bragg, to the first team, it was an apprehensive Bretforton side that took to the field.
However, replacement Tracey Hodgkins set up a perfectly timed shot to Emma Walker, who in turn reverse sticked it into the goal to clinch a narrow win.
Fixtures - Saturday: Bretforton v Warwick I/II. Sunday: Bretforton II v Ilmington.
Bidford 5, Pershore 2
A CONFIDENT Bidford side showed superb skills to register an emphatic win on the Big Meadow.
Penny Smallwood gave them an early advantage before Jeni Wright doubled the lead after putting pressure on the visiting goalkeeper and player of the match Lisa Hill before flicking the ball over the prostrate custodian.
Pershore, for whom playing on grass was a rare occurrence, made it 2-1 before half-time with a shot from Nicholson that went in off a post and it was 2-2 after the break when the visitors grabbed a second courtesy of the same player.
However, Bidford rallied in commendable fashion and added three more goals courtesy of Smallwood, Wendy Cooper and Kate Ryan to complete a fine win for the Broom Hall Inn sponsored hosts.
