HOCKEY: Determined Stourport chalked up their first National League Division One win of the season with a 2-1 home success over Beeston.
They showed strong character to fight back from a goal down and achieve an excellent victory.
Rob Peregrine put the visitors ahead on 27 minutes but Stourport were in front by half-time.
First, a well-worked move involving Lindley Edwards and Shilen Tanna led to the latter equalising three minutes later.
Stourport were ahead within a minute when Willicombe robbed Beeston's centre-back in the circle and Laith El-Khabib shot home.
Beeston tried hard to equalise but keeper Matt Simkin was equal to everything thrown at him.
Stourport seconds were 1-0 up at half-time through a Tom White goal but fell away badly in the second half to lose 3-1.
And there were plenty of goals with the thirds in a remarkable 6-6 draw with Bournville.
National League striker Ashley Grammitt scored four for the opposition and though Stourport took the lead, they were 3-2 down at half-time.
However, they battled back from a 3-5 deficit to go 6-5 in the lead before Bournville equalised for the first time.
Jamie Henderson and promising winger Chris Perry scored two, while Jon Yates, back from injury, and Bruce Baron, a first for his new club, added the other goals.
The rampant fourths have won six out of six after thumping Bournville 5-0.
Centre-half Steve Taylor put the home side 2-0 up by half-time.
Anthony Davis, Ben Madden and Steve Odell completed the rout in the second half.
The fifths are having a dismal start in a tricky league and lost 3-1 at Harbourne with 10 men.
Pete Mills, Frank Colwill and Gerald Gregory scored in the sixths' 3-3 draw with Kings Heath.
The young Badgers side continued their impressive start to the competitive programme with a 3-0 win at Droitwich through goals from Whale, Powell and Bickerton.
