KARATE: Kara Bennett, Jennie Price and Emily Powell won their third team title in a row at Kidderminster's Kimura Shukokai Championships.
The trio took the senior cadet team kata trophy following wins in the National Championships and Kimura Cup.
Great Britain squad members Bennett and Price, both 13, and Powell, 12, are in the Shukokai Karate Federation's Tsunami branch.
They hold medals at local, national, european and world levels.
The girls are coached by multi-world and European Champion, Sensei Solfrid Daniels.
In addition, the Tsunami team gave an outstanding display at the tournament.
Medal winners: Daniels (gold, ladies kata, kumite and senior team kata), Sophie Powell (gold, 8-9 years kumite; silver, junior cadet team kata), Stephanie Hatch (silver, 8-9 kumite and junior cadet team kata), Josh Bennett (silver, junior team kata), Jason Lester (gold, individual brown belt kata; bronze, team kata), Paul Hyde (bronze, brown belt kata and team kata), Dave Powell (bronze, team kata and kumite), Gareth Thompson (silver, kumite), Price (silver, cadet black belt kata), Bennett (silver, girls kumite; bronze, cadet black belt kata); Scott Biddle, Dean Robinson and Jason Wellings (bronze, junior grade team kata).
But for an injury just before the final, Thompson may have taken the gold but he had to scratch from the event.
Hatch and S Powell, both nine, are in the Great Britain squad.
With Bennett, they look set to follow in the steps of the three senior girls to national title victories.
