ON page 3 of the October 4 issue of the Shuttle/Times and News an article under the title "60 extra staff for campaign" was published.
The article concerned the start of this season's "campaign" at the British Sugar factory on Stourport Road, Kidderm-inster.
The last paragraph is devoted to a statement from a British Sugar spokesman: "£300,000 is paid in business rates, highlighting the importance of this industry to the local economy, particularly following the impact of the foot and mouth epidemic".
Perhaps the spokesman would like to explain why, if the plant is important to our local economy, they are closing it down at the end of the current campaign.
