100 years ago - October 26, 1901
Harvington: Herbert Best, a labourer, of Harvington, was summoned for being drunk and disorderly on October 5. PC Hancock stated that he saw the defendant with his hat, coat and waistcoat off wanting to fight. He was drunk and using bad language as he put his fists up to his face. Nine previous convictions were taken into consideration and defendant was set down for 14 days.
75 years ago - October 30, 1926
Broadway: About half past nine on Friday evening, a shed in Mr E R Kempson's orchard, High Street, Broadway, was discovered to be on fire. The fire brigade was called, and getting water from Dr Alexander's pond soon put the fire out. Some ladders that had been in the shed were saved, but damage was done to the structure to the extent of about £20. The shed was not insured.
50 years ago - October 27, 1951
Evesham: South Worcestershire's candidates for the forthcoming general election held meetings in Evesham's Public Hall this week. Conservative candidate Mr Rupert De La Bere filled the hall, whereas the turnout for Labour candidate Mr J P T Hopwood was slightly smaller.
25 years ago - October 28, 1976
Evesham: A new move to save Evesham's Avonbridge House with a town scheme grant has been agreed in principle by the Hereford-Worcester county council countryside and conservation committee. The house has been the subject of a ten-year dispute between its owner, Mr Arthur Tolley, who wants to pull it down and the planners, who want to preserve it.
