PARISH COUNCIL: Report of parish council meeting held on October 2:
Planning: W01/01276 Mr G Revill move existing consent for barn in flood plain to new building out of flood plain at Bridge Farm.
This was opposed as it would set a precedence and it was thought that the existing building could be bunded as protection against flooding.
W01/01287 Quinetiq Defford Airfield. Construction of six antennae with associated prefab control cabins within existing site. No objections but it would be preferable if units could be camouflaged in any way.
Also the part privatisation of the former MOD department was mentioned as was removal of equipment should the site be vacated.
W01/01293/01361/01364/01365 Mr C Hunt replacement pig breeding buildings to replace those demolished by MAFF - no objections subject to footpath diversion agreement.
W01/01301 UK Plant and Haulage Services: Construction of 2 two-storey houses and one bungalow Crabbe Yard. The revised access was not thought to be as good as the existing one. As contrary to structure and local plans suggest section 106 agreement to clear site within 12 months.
W01/01255 Mr and Mrs Ottley. Approved subject to materials matching existing.
An appeal was received from Mr D Robinson against planning refusal. Now that several properties were connected to the new sewerage the question of the seven dwellings from the Old Bakehouse to Crofthurst was being addressed. A die test at Ashlea proved that it together with Noakes Court and Crofthurst were all connected to the new system. The clerk would enquire regarding the skip on the village hall car park. Although posters had been received proclaiming majority of footpaths were now open many in Besford were still closed. More volunteers were required for work on the Millennium Green. Every Saturday gangs would be in action but work at other times could be accommodated. Volunteers should contact Stuart Jefferies at Cobble Cottage. The Memorial Project for the village green would be the subject of a special session prior to the next PC meeting on November 6 from 7 to 8pm. The clerk reported that the RAF Defford Reunion Association had raised £900 towards this project. The street light at the steps to Hill View was still out and the clerk would chase MEB to establish problems with supply cable. It was agreed to try a recycling scheme at the village hall car park for a period of six months. PC 72 Cavendish reported that crime figures had fallen over the parishes, he could be contacted on 08457 444 888 ext 3631 or mobile 07968 497676.
