Monty Smith MBE, retired curator of Wightwick Manor, talked about the history of the house at the October meeting.
This was one of the first properties given to the National Trust, in 1930s, and members were told about extensive renovation work being undertaken.
The speaker had brought along old photographs of the original family who owned the property, with slides of the house and garden, and he gave details of the architectural features.
Ursula Parker, the group's secretary, was presented with flowers to mark her 90th birthday.
Barbara Burgin is organising a varied programme for next year.
Friends, visitors and new members are always welcome at meetings, on the second Monday of the month at 2.15pm in Heightington Village Hall.
