THE annual benefit concert for a Worcestershire music idol is due to take place this weekend.
Fans of Clifford T Ward will be descending on The Gainsborough Hotel, Bewdley Hill, Kidderminster, on Sunday, October 28.
The singer, who has a worldwide fan base, had a top ten hit in 1973 with Gaye.
He was a well-known face on the Worcestershire music scene in the 1960s when he fronted Cliff Ward and the Cruisers.
His albums and singles of that period became classics and have been covered by Cliff Richard, Art Garfunkel and Judy Collins.
The former Stourport-on-Severn High School teacher, who lives in Stockton-on-Teme, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in the 1980s.
He is confined to a wheelchair but still writes music.
The Rock 'n' Roll night will be a celebration of his music and will feature live music from The Merseycats.
The event kicks off at 6pm and will run until 10pm. Admission is £5.
