MADRESFIELD Court Gardens were the venue for many a family outing last Sunday afternoon. The weather was fine and dry and many trees were wearing their autumn colours. Notable were the Horse Chestnuts and the Turkey Oaks whose leaves were golden brown, other colours, purple and white, were provided by the cyclamen and autumn crocus shyly hiding at the base of the trees.
The maze proved popular with young and old alike. Other attractions were the ducks on the moat and the tractor rides. Three vintage cars looked splendid in the majestic setting of the gardens while stationary steam engines provided added interest.
On display in a marquee were crafts including fine needlework, pottery, wood craft and chair-making. On sale were preserves by the WI and plants and bulbs by the local nursery. Teas and cream scones were served in the playroom, part of the Old Stable block. All proceeds were for the local churches of Madresfield and Guarlford.
