MYSTERY surrounds the fate of the Oddfellows pub in Colwall, which has been closed for several weeks.
The pub, situated on Walwyn Road, halfway between Colwall Green and Colwall Stone, has now been boarded up and its telephone disconnected.
It used to be known as the Horse and Jockey, a reference to its proximity to the former Colwall racecourse, and was a freehouse with no ties to a brewery.
Town council chairman Nicky Carless said the council had not been able to find out anything about why it closed or what its future might be.
Pressure group CAMRA said it also had no idea why the pub closed so suddenly.
