Kays Athletico 4, Express '88 FC 6
Express were relieved to come away with a victory from this Bernard Finnegan cup game. Despite racing into a fifth minute lead and a 3-1 lead at half time, Express could not find any rhythm or composure and found themselves trailing 4-3 with 25 minutes remaining.
The shock of throwing away a good lead spurred the Express, goals from Stu Summers (3), man of the match Matt Clifford, Dean Henman and one own goal being enough to see Express through to the next round.
Friday's fundraising snail racing night was a great success and an enjoyable night for all who attended. Special thanks to Gerry Deegan at the Express and race sponsors Les Thomas Roofing, Pottsy at TWS, The Big Lads, Andy Bell roofing, Quest Communications, Pilot wedding cars, P&G Stone, all those who helped out on the night and sponsor Lesley Brannagh for her brave but attempt to eat the losing snails in garlic.
This Sunday Express return to a league fixture away to Oak Apple, players meet Express Inn at 9.15 am.
