GROSVENOR Eagles are the early leaders in division one of the Worcester Table Tennis League after beating Rainbow 6-4.
The doubles proved to be crucial for Eagles, with Ian Bell and Alan Salisbury beating Wayne Chopping and Pete Griffiths 13-11 in the fifth.
Chopping and Griffiths won two singles each for Rainbow, with Griffiths beating Norman Merchant 8-11, 12-10, 10-12, 11-5, 13-11. The other five setter saw Bell beat Chopping 11-8.
Hartlebury moved into second place after beating Pavilion Players 9-1. Lynda Reid won the Players only game, beating Robert Jackson 11-3 in the fifth set.
Redditch Roamers are third after beating YMCA Thunderbirds 9-1. James Bewley beat Chris Maiden 11-8, 11-8, 12-14, 9-11, 11-6 for YM's lone win.

Division Three
Himbleton "C" recorded an easy 10-0 home win over Worcester Golf and Country Club. Only the last game of the night between the respective No 1 players Pete Rogers for Himbleton and Ken Murton for the visitors needed a decider, the former winning 11-8 in the fifth.
Hartlebury British Legion "D" were beaten 2-8 by visiting Broadheath Belters. It did not help their cause that Lyn Davies became ill during the match and unfortunately had to concede her three games.
In the first game of the night Aileen Berry just got the better of John Sheaf, winning 11-9 in the fifth. Sheaf won his remaining two singles against Roger Bates and Pete Roberts, but again was extended to five sets by the latter, finally winning the decider 11-7.
Worcester Golf and Country Club entertained Hartlebury British Legion "D" and shared the points in a drawn match.
Graham Meredith easily won his three singles in straight sets for the home side.
