SKATERS in Upton-upon-Severn who have managed to find £1,000 for a new skate park are still no nearer their goal.
Skaters were encouraged to come up with the cash by the promise that the town council would add the remainder.
And when the August 31 deadline was met by the eager youngsters, it was thought that the park would be up and running by the end of the year.
But the company which bought the land for the skatepark has not yet submitted a planning application to Malvern Hills District Council.
The tender for the new park, won by FH Plant Ltd, is planned for a piece of rough land on the town's sport's field.
It quoted £4,735, including VAT, for the work, which will consist of creating a tarmac patch with raised kerbs.
But the company cannot start until the town council has obtained permission from Malvern Hills District Council to build on its land.
It will also have to obtain permission from the district council's southern area planning committee, for which an application has not yet been submitted.
Residents in Mulberry Drive have contributed cash to the new park to move skaters away from their road and into a designated area.
