A HEROIN addict told magistrates he was in a Catch-22 situation after being caught in possession of the drug.
Ian Tasker, of Rydal Close, Warndon, Worcester, admitted the charge but said he needed help to beat the addiction.
Droitwich magistrates ordered the 33-year-old to comply with a 12-month community rehabilitation order.
Tasker, who is registered disabled, was caught in possession of heroin with a street value of around £150.
"It's not a crime to be a heroin addict," said Tasker, defending himself.
"But I know it's a crime to be in possession of the drug.
"It's a Catch-22 situation. Once you're on it you can't get off it without medical help.
"I'd welcome the opportunity to be placed on probation. It's my intention to make a break of this."
Tasker was also ordered to pay £60 court costs.
