DAVE Sims enjoyed a rare game as he captained the English National Divisions rugby union side in a 34-22 defeat against Australia 'A' at Welford Road, Leicester yesterday.
The Worcester lock, who has spent much of the season sitting on the Sixways bench, was made captain on a day which saw clubmate Duncan Roke also appear for the National Divisions side.
And after all the concern surrounding Roke's call-up, it was Worcester's opponents on Saturday who were hit hardest as Otley players Phil Greaves and, in particular Simon Binns, enjoyed fine displays.
Australia were made to work surprisingly hard by the National Divisions side before opening their seven-match tour of Europe with the victory.
The Wallabies looked rusty for most of the game, but Australian coach Eddie Jones gave 22 of the 30-strong touring party some valuable match practice.
