AN evening meal at a Worcester restaurant allegedly turned into a nightmare for two couples who claim a waitress "lost the plot" and began hurling abuse.
Caroline Gardiner and her husband Marcus say they are so disgusted by the "appalling" treatment they received at Chesters in New Street last Thursday, they have sought legal advice.
They claim the waitress, who is also the owner of the restaurant, "went ballistic" after questioning their order.
"We ordered the most expensive meal, fajitas, but as it only came with three tortillas, my husband ordered another portion," said Mrs Gardiner, who was out with him and two business colleagues.
"The waitress took exception to this and started interrogating us about why we wanted more, telling us to eat over the road if we didn't like it."
Mrs Gardiner said when her husband pointed out the fajitas were quite expensive for what they were, the waitress grabbed all the menus and asked them to leave.
"She went to take our drinks, spilling one over my friend and a man sitting behind," said the 27-year-old of The Corbetts, Leigh Sinton.
"She lost the plot completely."
Mr Gardiner, a regional catering manager for 300 employees, said he was stunned by the outburst.
"I said to her, 'I thought you were in the hospitality trade', and she shouted 'I am in the hospitality trade, not the w***** trade, so f*** off'.
"She ushered us out and slammed the door so hard it came back on itself," he said.
"We were totally humiliated and have never been treated so badly in our lives."
But owner Lisa Watkins denied the allegation, saying Mr Gardiner had been "obnoxious", demanding free drinks because the party had to wait 10 minutes to be served.
"They had not booked but we fitted them in anyway," she said.
"I found him obnoxious and asked him to leave, but told the others they could stay.
"In the end, I admit I told him to f*** off."
