Elgar Housing Association has said it will remove any bonfires on its land before they can be lit, as a safety precaution in the run up to bonfire night.
Elgar spokesman Julia Daker said: "In the past we've had to have bonfires removed from our land, because they were not structurally safe and could have toppled over and done serious damage to somebody."
The association is urging all its tenants to attend one of the number of organised displays and events which have been laid on around the area.
Elgar's executive director Clare Huyton said: "We are not trying to spoil tenants' fun, on the contrary.
"We are all for tenants enjoying themselves at a bonfire and fireworks display, but our first concern is for the safety of the tenants and the properties we own."
