In the second half there was more action at both ends and Sam Albrow, Billy Skinner and Tom Lucas were always busy, combating the threat of Elliot Farrall and the Rangers players. Despite some heroics in goal, Rangers' Andrew Richardson was unable to prevent two goals each from James Endall and McGeown, plus one from MoM Max Galla as Town stepped up the pressure.
Kingswinford U15s 0 Mostyn Rangers U15s 0. A very close game which could have gone either way. MoM for Mostyn was R Collins.
Catshill U10s 0 Hanbury U10s 3. Credit must go to a solid Hanbury defence and excellent goalkeeping for another clean sheet. The deadlock was broken in the first half when the manager's player of the match James Chaffe scored from a well delivered corner. The game was sealed by two solo goals from Hanbury MoM Lewis Smith.
Droitwich Spa Eagles U15s 9 Wyvern United U15s 1. A strong defensive display helped Eagles to a convincing win. Catshill Juniors U9s 3 Callowbrook Swifts U9s 4. This local cup tie lived up to its expectations as a great all-round team performance from Swifts saw them into the next round of the league shield against opposition two divisions higher. Jay Hurley and MoM Matthew Wood sent Swifts 2-1 up at half time with two well taken goals. Sam Wright replied for Catshill. In the second half Swifts struck again early on from a Hurley wonder strike but Catshill stepped up the pace and scored two good goals from James Lund, the third an absolute screamer from 25 yards to put the game in the balance. The second half saw Athletic take control of the game and they were unlucky not to have a further half dozen goals, hitting the woodwork three times. However, they had to settle for only one more when a neat move between Donato Casamassa and Joe Naughton resulted in Joe finding the net. Strong performances from Daniel Knight and Casamassa helped to secure the points.
AC Northfield 4 Bromsgrove Town Belles 1. A depleted Belles team matched Northfield throughout the first half and took the lead through a close range effort from Danielle Farmer. Northfield equalised just before the break and took an early second half lead when a wicked bounce on a terrible pitch bounced over the Belles keeper. Northfield made it three with a well taken effort before the Belles started to fight back. A disallowed goal and a well saved penalty by Northfield's keeper meant that it was not to be Belles' afternoon. A fourth goal for Northfield towards the end left a flattering scoreline for the home side.
Hanbury U15s 12 Headless Cross U15s 1. Hanbury maintained their 100 per cent league record with a comprehensive victory over Cross, scoring six in each half, before conceding an unnecessary consolation at the close. This, along with an early reply for HN, gave the home side encouragement, although Rudge returned the gap to six with a superb strike from outside the box. Arden Forest U11s 1 Catshill Warriors U11s 4. Thanks to excellent defending by Miles Dolphin, Nick Hewston and keeper/MoM Sam Hardman-Smith, the game remained goal less at half time. In the second half Nick Ingram reverted to his normal centre forward position and eventually broke the deadlock after strong running. However, Arden equalised shortly after. Bromsgrove Town A U10s 2 Callowbrook Swifts U10s B 1. This vast improvement from Swifts wasn't quite enough as Town sealed their hard earned victory six minutes from time thanks to a penalty. Bromsgrove hit the front first, only for battling Swifts to level through defender Sam Talbot with an unstoppable 20-yard drive. In the closing stages it was the visitors who looked more likely to pinch a winner when twice, Lloyd Sherrington had golden opportunities which were well saved. MoM was Harry Hay.
Callowbrook Swifts U10s A 3 Castlehurst Colts U10s 2. This was one of the best matches seen for many months at small-sided level. The visitors took the lead with a well taken goal after 15 minutes and it stayed that way until 16 minutes from the end when MoM Jack Wilson finally scrambled in an equaliser after sustained pressure. Parity didn't last long as Colts restored their lead immediately when a miss-hit clearance was punished. With a last throw of the dice, Swifts sent on Matty Reeves and to the manager's joy he outpaced his opponent to finish clinically. Settling for a draw, Castlehurst defended in numbers, but Mikey Chambers broke down the wing and his cross was met first time by Reeves whose well- timed volley dipped under the bar to clinch a fine win.
