THOUSANDS of people who are expected to descend on Sanders Park on Sunday night for this year's bonfire bonanza will be able to see the handiwork of scores of Bromsgrove youngsters.
Nearly 200 children spent last week's half-term holiday at Bromsgrove District Council's leisure centres making a giant Guy, an enormous rocket and a selection of lanterns for the event.
The 20ft, illuminated rocket will be on the roof of the pavilion in Sanders Park, the 12ft Guy will, of course, be on top of the bonfire and the lanterns will be hung on nearby trees.
The annual bonfire at the Kidderminster Road-based park is organised by the authority which says this year's fun-packed event promises to be even more spectacular than ever before with a breathtaking musically-synchronised firework display.
Cabinet member of leisure and health, Cllr Terri Matthews (Con, Furlongs) said: "Do come along and join in all the fun.
"There will be plenty for everyone in the full evening's programme of entertainment.
"It's a party not to be missed."
The fun of the fair starts at 4pm, followed by a radio roadshow at 6pm.
Council chairman Cllr Mike Gill (Con, Woodvale) will light the bonfire at 7.30pm and the fireworks will head skywards from 7.45pm.
Admission is free but there will be gate collections for the chairman's charity - Macmillan Cancer Relief - if people would like to make a donation.
