DEAR Editor - over the last few weeks letters have been printed giving incorrect details on events in Droitwich Spa. I would like to set out some accurate information.
The recent parish poll was not actioned by councillors - the Local Plan has the Kidderminster Road site demanding housing and this could not be changed.
A planning application has already been received meeting this criteria.
The cost of the poll (called for by Action for Droitwich) to the town's tax payers was £4,685.
Wychavon District Council closed the Lido because it was deemed unsafe and was becoming a continual drain on community charge funds.
It is hoped a public/private solution will be the way forward so the pool is open all year round and that plans will be released soon with public consultation following.
The previous Droitwich Spa Town Council administration (Lib/Lab control) sited the skatepark in the Lido without sufficient insurance, safety measures or space.
Wychavon has found a new location next to the leisure centre where the park will have suitable support.
A smaller park will also be available at the Droitwich Adventure Playground.
Westlands community projects have been submitted by Worcestershire County Council for a share of a Government grant, and we hope it will be successful.
Projects on Chawson were also put forward but not chosen by the independent assessors appointed by the county - we hope to find some alternative support for Chawson.
I hope this has cleared up some issues raised in recent weeks.
If readers require more information my fellow town councillors and I would be happy to assist if they were to contact us at St Richard's House.
Cllr Richard Morris,
St Richard's House,
Droitwich Spa.
