DEAR Editor - I wish to thank Cllr Pam Davey for her reply to my letter. It is good that Wychavon district councillors took my concerns as a mere voter to heart, and put more democratic amended proposals to the Boundary Commission review as a result.
Pam's pledges of open decision-making and public consultation for the benefit of Droitwich people were reassuring - confirmed by news of a Waitrose supermarket for the Spa.
Residents don't want an out of town supermarket. Tourists to our revamped canal will not need car parking. Ask those who voted in the Parish Poll.
Benefits to Droitwich will be widespread. Drivers can shop in Worcester instead of polluting our air.
Traders in High Street and Gurneys Lane can shut up shop to avoid construction work noise and dust. Lucky market traders can enjoy their enforced early retirement thanks to generous compensation from Wychavon.
Knowing Pam and her Wychavon colleagues care for the people of Droitwich is comforting. Cost effective methods replacing a nearby empty Gateway store are proof of effective public consultation and far-sighted planning. Come election time I shall value their efforts.
As an appreciative voter I won't say 'you are the weakest link.'
Mark Heel,
Burrish Street,
Droitwich Spa.
