DEAR Editor - Droitwich Canals Trust is delighted that Worcestershire County Council has re-affirmed its commitment to the Droitwich Canals Restoration Project.
The trust has been raising money and carrying out restoration works on Droitwich's two canals since 1973 and is pleased to continue to do so.
We have recently restored the Junction Canal locks with a grant of £100,000 from the Inland Waterways Association with work being carried out by volunteers with advice from British Waterways.
The input of voluntary labour will continue to make a vital contribution to the restoration project.
We are grateful for the continuing support of organisations such as the police who kindly included us in their final charity event last Saturday.
We are also attracting many new members as the project gains further support.
All donations are welcomed and are put to immediate use either in maintenance work or active restoration.
