A REDDITCH animal charity has appealed to fishermen to take all possible precautions to prevent needlessly hurting or killing birds at nature areas.
Last Friday, the RSPCA was called to Arrow Valley Lake after a report a bird had become caught in fishing tackle.
The goose was seriously hurt and it was believed the wound could have been life-threatening.
The goose was taken to Southcrest Veterinary Centre to be assessed and had the wire removed from its leg.
After treatment, the swelling on the bird began to decrease and the RSPCA said its condition was improving.
