THE three main political parties in Redditch have put aside their differences and joined forces to sway voters in the forthcoming mayoral referendum.
Ballot papers have been sent to residents asking whether the council should be run by a directly elected mayor.
The Government wants to overhaul the council decision-making process in a bid to improve openness and accountability.
But Labour's Albert Wharrad, Conservative Carole Gandy and Liberal Democrat Diane Thomas have released a statement opposing the move towards a directly elected mayor.
Postal ballots should be returned by November 8.
