EMERGENCY services fought through rush-hour traffic to get to a five-vehicle accident on the M5 this morning.

Three people were taken to Worcester's Ronkswood hospital for treatment after the shunting incident between Junction 6 at Warndon, and Junction 7 at Whittington.

Two lanes of the southbound carriageway were blocked, but police and firefighters quickly cleared the debris.

A spokesman for the fire brigade said a low bright sun was thought to be one factor making driving conditions difficult at the time. There were no major tailbacks were reported.

Later, city fire crews removed 200 litres of milk cartons, thought to have fallen off a lorry, from the A440 roundabout at Nunnery Way, Worcester.
