Chesterfield also had Sean Parrish and Jamie Ingledow returning, while Steve Payne and top scorer Luke Beckett dropped to the bench with midfielder Lee Richardson rested.
Nicky Laws' side, who are struggling after being promoted last season, lost 1-0 at Blackpool on their last outing on Saturday.
