HOCKEY: The first Worcestershire First Division victory of the season is still evading Stourport Ladies firsts after Saturday's 2-1 home loss to Bromsgrove.
Despite having most of the possession, they still lost to their rivals and were reduced to 10 players late on.
Bromsgrove scored from open play in the first 10 minutes but Stourport only lagged behind for a few minutes.
Fran Long equalised from a short-corner, pushing the ball in at the right-hand post.
Vicky Whitehouse and Vicky Bristow had excellent games with Stourport creating the better chances.
Long scored from a short-corner in the 45th minute but the effort was disallowed by the umpire.
When the home side were reduced to 10 players with Jess Trundle sent off, Bromsgrove added insult to injury by scoring the winner.
Harborne 2 Stourport 2nds 4
Stourport took the honours at Hadley Stadium where they beat Harborne.
Captain Teri Baron was first to score after just 15 minutes and then provided a cross from the right 10 minutes later which Andra Hughes swept in for the second goal.
Harborne mounted pressure on their visitors and were rewarded with a goal just before half-time.
The score was levelled five minutes into the second half but Stourport never gave up and Baron scored her second goal in the 50th minute after a move involving Kim Whitehouse, Kathy Doyle and Chris Jenks.
Stourport cemented their victory with a goal for Rosie Williams who had to leave the field a few minutes later with a leg injury.
Upton 7 Stourport 3rds 0
A 10-player Stourport Ladies thirds were no match for Upton and suffered their third defeat in the Worcestershire Third Division.
Upton were ahead inside 10 minutes and though Stourport fought hard and created chances, they were 4-0 down at half-time.
The stand-in visitors keeper was given little chance in the second half, conceding three more goals.
