JUDO: Ellen Ingram was on form again for Samurai Judo Club as she gained a silver medal at the Dixton Open in Monmouth.
Ingram fought her way to the final in convincing style but lost to an old rival.
But she gets closer to beating the opponent each time and was a score up briefly before being caught on the ground.
The other six Samurai medallists at the event were all boys.
Benji Connor keeps improving and showed some good style in the U-34kg category.
Connor won his first three contests before losing in the quarter-finals but then fought back through the repechage system to win the bronze.
His elder brother John also had three good wins before losing in the semi-finals and taking a bronze.
He also entered the next weight up, the U-42kg, and beat club-mate Ben Newbury in the semi-final despite being the underdog.
However, J Connor lost in the final, while Newbury - who earlier came close to beating the gold medallist - fought back to win a bronze.
Lee Davenport made a welcome return to form to take bronze in the U-50kg group, only losing out to two experienced British cadet squad players.
