SAILING: Trimpley sailors have had some excellent results in the GP14 Midland Bell Traveller Series.
Carl Jeffs and crew Jim Toothill won the gold series in the demanding competition at various venues around the Midlands.
Trimpley continued to show the way in the bronze series through father and daughter combination, Mark and Hannah Tissiman.
They won the challenging contest at the first attempt.
A delighted H Tissiman said: "We have both worked so hard this year and I'm really elated that it came good at the end."
Meanwhile, light winds at the weekend made racing a lottery for Trimpley's sailors back at home.
The October Pursuit Race for GP14s on Saturday saw eight boats fighting for little wind.
Jeff Waltier and crew Eric Reed led off the fleet and held on to take the first race.
Fickle winds made it difficult for the other dinghies to overhaul them and they eventually crossed the line ahead of Clive Haycock and Mike Stout. Rob Hart and Paul Wooddisse were third.
Conditions were even worse for the second race and crews found themselves making slow progress.
The Waltier and Reed combination were unable to hold onto their lead for long as Haycock and Stout passed them and cruised away to a comfortable win.
Ray Drury and John Cookson came in second followed by Andy Allan and nine-year-old crew Isobel Jones.
Haycock and Stout took the trophy from Waltier and Reed with Drury and Cookson taking third spot.
Frank Edwards sailed the lone Laser and finished comfortably placed amongst the GP14s.
If winds were light on Saturday , they were almost non-existent on a fine autumn Sunday afternoon.
Jeff Halford beat Glen Caulwell in the 1200 Single Handed race, while there were three close contests in the Frostbite Series in near calm conditions.
M and H Tissiman took the first race of the afternoon from Trevor Turner and crew Debbie Tissiman.
In the second race, Turner and Tissiman claimed first place from A Allan and son James.
The final race saw the Fletchers beat the Tissiman combination.
In the Laser class, there were wins for Tom Jeffs and Tom Rogers.
