Droitwich Spa 2,
Bishampton United 0
BISHAMPTON'S poor form continued with another defeat.
They must be wondering how they managed to control 80 per cent of the game and still have have nothing to show for their efforts.
The game opened at a quick pace with the visitors putting the home team on the defensive for long periods, but despite having plenty of the play they failed to give Droitwich keeper Simon Denby too many problems as most attempts went high and wide of the goal.
The Droitwich forwards were restricted to counter attacks, but they were dealt with in relative comfort.
The small Perdiswell pitch and long grass hindered Bishampton more than their opponents who tended to play the ball longer. The visitors, though, still had enough possession to create opportunities, but they failed to do so.
The second half continued as the first had finished, but midway through the half Droitwich forwards were beginning to see more of the ball and apply their own pressure.
The crucial first goal fell to the home side. A corner was taken and, as keeper Rob Bille went to catch the ball, Droitwich player Chris Everett challenged and put Bille and the ball into the back of the net and to Bishampton's surprise the goal was allowed to stand.
The visitors tried to make amends and regained control of the game. Ten minutes from time Simon Maddocks was pushed to the ground following a corner, but the referee dismissed their penalty appeals and with it went a chance to equalise.
United now poured men forward to try and salvage the game, but with a minute remaining Everett scored his second goal after a poor back pass by Newbon to seal the points for the Droitwich side.
