Littleton won 4-3 on penalties
LITTLETON retained their unbeaten record for the season when they just edged out Bewdley to move into the last eight of the Worcestershire Junior Cup.
It was a close run thing though, as they won on a penalty shoot-out after extra time failed to produce a winner.
After a hesitant start from both sides the game came to life after 15 minutes when Darren Reeves hit the bar with a header. The same player had another header cleared off the line soon after.
Bewdley were also getting into their stride led by Grant Gibbs whose pace and trickery proved to be a problem for Littleton throughout the game.
It came as no surprise then when Ian Turford put Bewdley in front spinning round from 18 yards and driving home off the underside of the crossbar.
They should have doubled their lead after 48 minutes but Turford shot over when well placed.
Five minutes later Littleton were level. Chris Bate fed Billy Hiden down the left, he went past two defenders squared the ball across the goal, where Des Cox had timed his run to perfection to sidefoot home.
Bewdley regained their lead on the 67th minute. Chris Bow scoring from close-range after a good build-up.
Littleton left it late to force overtime courtesy of a Reeves penalty in the 85th minute after Cox had been brought down.
Bewdley came close to breaking the deadlock in extra-time when Grant Gibbs beat two men out on the right, cut in, beat the keeper and his shot looked destined to score, but a superb goalline clearance by Matt Cotton hooked the ball from under the bar and to safety.
In the penalty shoot-out. Bewdley went first and missed. Goalkeeper Hunt saved the second and Littleton kept their nerve scoring through Hiden, Reeves, Matty Edwards and finally Steve Pitcher to claim victory.
The game was sponsored by Trade Window Specialists.
Littleton are at home on Saturday to Coleshill Town Res, kick-off 2pm.
