November 2, 1901
Evesham: Herbert Harking, a market gardener of Drakes Broughton, was summoned for being drunk on the highway on October 13. Defendant pleaded guilty. PC Smith stated that he found defendant lying by the church on the ground. He raised him up but could not walk and fell down repeatedly. Fined 4s 6d and 5s 6d costs.

Evesham: At a meeting of Wick Parochial Church Council, it was decided to enlarge the churchyard by the inclusion of a portion of glebe offered by the Vicar (the Rev R J Torrens) for that purpose. Mr Reginald Sherwood was appointed organist at the parish church, and a cordial vote of thanks was accorded him for his voluntary work of the past in this direction.

Evesham: One of Winston Churchill's first eight appointments to his new Government, announced last Saturday, was that of General Lord Ismay, of Wormington Grange, Broadway, to the office of Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations. Later, with the other ministers, Lord Ismay went to Buckingham Palace, where he took the oath of allegiance and was sworn a member of the Privy Council.

Evesham: The British Leyland spares depot at Honeybourne was at a standstill this week after strikers voted at a mass meeting to stay out for a further week. The meeting, held in the village hall at Honeybourne on Monday, was attended by more than 100 employees.
