EVESHAM United embark on an FA Trophy trail this weekend that really caught the public imagination last season.

Only a replay defeat at the hands of Nationwide Conference side, Morecambe, foiled United's hopes of a place in the last 16.

This year's opener takes Phil Mullen's men to Dulwich Hamlet on Saturday and it won't be lost on the manager that his charges overcame fellow Ryman Leaguers, Leather-head and Harrow, last term.

"It's a difficult fixture but we've had three excellent training sessions and we are going there to get a result," said the Robins' chief.

"It's been hard work for the players but everybody's confidence is high and the rest will have done us all a lot of good."

It hasn't, however, been long enough for Steve Taylor and Shaun Pratt, who are both carrying injuries but Mullen is hoping to welcome back Russell Parmenter and Scott Mullen, while getting clearance from Hinckley to play Guy Hadland.

A supporters' coach will leave the High Street at 10.30am. Ring Andy Beasley on 01386 765108.

If the scores are level after 90 minutes, the replay will take place on Tuesday.

The club's youth team entertains Stratford Town in a League Cup second round tie tonight. The youngsters lost 4-1 to Worcester last week when a Danny Bostock penalty was their sole consolation.

Last weekend's cancelled league game at Mangotsfield has been rearranged for Tuesday, December 11. Seven days later, Evesham are hoping to play host to Halesowen in the Worcestershire Senior Cup.

The outstanding Western Division clash at Cirencester Town will take place on Saturday, March 9, 2002.
