THE Liberal Democrats want to see Railtrack reformed as a not-for-profit body. But the way in which the Labour Government has sought to achieve this is disgraceful.
The idea that the European Union was responsible for the way British Rail was broken up is another Euro-myth.The so-called "Railway Directive" required separate accounts for train and track operations, but it specifically said that "organisational or institutional separation" was optional.
