A RED hot night is in store in Kidderminster when an event aimed at raising cash for the bereaved families of New York firefighters hits town.

Three-piece group Destiny Supreme are teaming up with Hereford and Worcester Fire Brigade band Heat and Smoke to perform an undoubtedly diverse tribute show featuring hits by the legendary Diana Ross-fronted Supremes and current sensations Destiny's Child.

The tribute act to popular female bands from both the 60s and the modern day will take centre stage to boost the families of the hundreds of firefighters who died in the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Mirage Nightclub in Dixon Street will be the venue for the event on Wednesday, November 14.

It has been organised by the fire brigade and Brian Davies' Upfront Entertainments agency, which last month staged a successful national look-alikes and tribute act award night at the same venue.

The fun begins at 8pm with an auction, while the live entertainment also features Heat and Smoke who will take to the stage with their "Commitments-style" music.

A brigade spokesman said: "We are appealing to shops, businesses and local people to donate gifts which can be auctioned on the night.

"All donations can be taken to Kidderminster Fire Station in Castle Road at any time."

Mr Davies will be acting as DJ compere and rounding off the evening, due to finish at 1am, with a disco "covering sounds to suit all ages present".

Destiny Supreme offer a double tribute to current megastars Destiny's Child, and "The Sisters of Motown" the Supremes.

Among the Destiny's Child songs in their repertoire are Independent Women and Survivor.

Supremes classics Baby Love and Stop in the Name of Love are also among the band's specialities.

Advance tickets for the event, priced £5, are available on 01562 823649.
