THE Vale is getting ready to sparkle - but in the safest possible way.

The weekend nearest to November 5 will see events celebrating Bonfire Night taking place across the region - with a firm emphasis on safety.

There is even an alternative to sparklers, which can cause horrendous injuries.

Pershore Fireworks is promoting glow sticks as a colourful but safe option and director Jo Martin, had lots of further safety advice (see page 8) for revellers.

Festivities in the Vale include tomorrow's (Friday) Vale Golf Club display at Bishampton, beginning at 8pm.

Entry is £7.50 per car with two adults and two children and you can get in from 7pm.

Gates open at 6.15pm and entry is £1.50 (adults) and 50p (over fives).
