A SCHOOL crossing lady who initially started work as a six-month temporary job has just celebrated her 25th anniversary.
Jill Edwards began helping children cross the busy Ombersley Road, Worcester, 25 years ago.
"We are all really grateful to Mrs Edwards for keeping the children safe and helping them get across the road," said Patricia Hird headteacher at Northwick Junior School.
Sue Curphey, headteacher of Northwick Infants School, also praised her efforts.
At lunchtime, staff and pupils presented Mrs Edwards with a bouquet of flowers and a card.
Mrs Edwards has covered the same area on Ombersley Road for the past 25 years.
Worcestershire County Council's road safety department employs Mrs Edwards, and county road safety officer Roger Woodward presented her with a 25-year plate made by Royal Worcester.
