COVENTRY side Broad Street, currently riding high in second place in Midlands Division One, make their first visit to Malvern this Saturday.

Often used as a nursery for the famous old Coventry RFC side, Broad Street have a long history of rugby at the top amateur level.

Malvern make only one change from last week's narrow defeat at Walsall, with Richard Fleming returning for Bo Kristoffersen, who is on duty for Denmark this weekend. Carl Thomas and Simon Phillips join Adie MacBurney on the replacements bench.

Director of Rugby David Robins still refuses to panic about Malvern's lowly position.

"When you look at our fixtures so far, they have been against sides in the top half of the table, and we have lost by relatively small margins. After Broad Street, the next few games are, on paper at least, slightly less tasking, but we already know that the step up means 80 minutes of tough, uncompromising rugby.

"We let our discipline slip last Saturday which cost us the game. Refereeing standards are vastly superior to what we have been accustomed and we must recognise that fact. We must build consistency, stop giving away silly penalties and keep improving.

"Our tight play and line-out has been good. The loose play must become more disciplined, especially at the ruck. Over-commitment whilst defending causes gaps to appear and points to be conceded.

"Apart from the opener against Old Dunstablians, this is our toughest test to date and I am looking for an improved and sustained performance," he said.
