AWARDS for long service, best turnout and many others were presented at Upton Youth Band's annual general meeting on Thursday (October 25).
The meeting took place at Upton Social Club and saw Sultan Chowdr, the proprietor of Pundits restaurant on Old Street, present the band with a £300 cheque. The money was raised at a special buffet-style dinner on the previous Sunday.
Chloe Roberts was band member of the year, with Alex Powell judged the most promising new recruit. The award for drill and deportment was shared by Lucy Pugh and Jenny Parsons, while Katie Dufty and Lorna Taha shared the title of best wind instrument. Best percussion went to Melanie Jones and best turnout to Russell Dudley.
