MALVERN Hills District Council is to take a second look at car parking charges in Newtown Road, Link Top.
Tuesday's meeting of the executive board instructed director of community services Colin Davies to review the move, which has roused a great deal of opposition.
When the imposition of charges was announced in March, traders launched a petition opposing it, which gathered some 1,200 signatures.
Since charging started in June, traders in Link Top and Newtown Road have reported falls in their businesses income of between 25 and 50 per cent.
Residents also have spoken out against the move, saying it drives them to park on the roadside, increasing the traffic problems in Newtown Road.
Mr Davies said he hoped to have the report ready for the November 20 meeting, if not the December one.
Ron Harris, a local resident, welcomed the decision and urged traders and residents to keep up the pressure on the council.
