ORGANISERS of Upton Water Festival's spectacular firework finale have restated a pledge to clear up and repair damage after having a complaint brought to their attention.
The meeting between the event's organisers, Upton Tourism and Trade Association (TTA), was called by Upton Town Council when it received a complaint from an anonymous member of the public, who brought in a carrier bag full of firework debris.
Councillors Eric White and John Shipp met Sue Walker and Rowan Thomas, of Pepperpot Pyrotechnics, to put the complaint across on Wednesday night.
"We hand-deliver letters to every resident in East Waterside telling them that any rubbish could be cleared up and any damage repaired if it is a result of the fireworks," said Mr Thomas.
"I'm concerned about the situation but I'm also frustrated that this individual did not come straight to the TTA with his or her complaint."
The spent fireworks brought in by the East Waterside resident included an object the size of a baby's head, which prompted the council to call the meeting.
