A TEN-man band of local fire brigade personnel will be turning on the heat as they perform for charity in Malvern.
Heat and Smoke, who have been together for five years, will be performing their blues and Commitments-style of covers at Willie Thorne's, Spring Lane, on Friday, November 9.
The proceeds of the evening will go to support their Malvern sub-officer, Chris George, during a year of fundraising for two London-based disabled children's charities - Kids and Kith and Kids - which will culminate with a Costa Rican trek in March.
Made up of three vocalists, keyboards, drums, bass and brass, the band of firemen meet once a week in Droitwich, two coming from Malvern and others from Bromyard, Kidderminster, Droitwich, Evesham and Worcester.
As well as this gig, they are also raising money for the firefighters in New York after the September 11 terrorist attacks. They supported Badness in Worcester's Chicago's nightclub on Wednesday and will be performing in Kidderminster's Mirage nightclub on Wednesday, November 14.
After their performance in Willie Thornes, Fireman DJ Warren Midgley will be taking over at the decks for a disco. Doors open at 7.30pm and admission is by ticket only. Tickets are £2.50, from Dave Smith at Malvern Fire Station on 01684 572948 or from Willie Thorne's on 01684 892147.
