SUSPENDED duo Mark Shepherd and Allan Davies are set to return to Worcester City's squad for the FA Trophy clash with Mangotsfield United at St George's Lane tomorrow (3pm).

The tie is a repeat fixture of last year's first round Trophy match which Worcester won 3-0 thanks to a Mark Owen hat-trick.

Manager John Barton is aiming to build on the success and spirit produced by Monday night's FA Cup win over Belper Town but he will urging his players to keep their feet firmly on the ground.

"We want to make sure we make progress in the two major competitions this week and make sure Mangotsfield go out of two cups this week," he said.

Mangotsfield, who lost their FA Cup replay to Lewes, are currently struggling fifth from bottom in the Dr Martens Western Division although they claimed the scalp of City's Premiership rivals Merthy Tydfil in the third qualifying round of the FA Cup.

"Experience tells me that it you don't keep your eye on things then the next game in this type of situation can trip you up so we must guard against that."

Welcome

Barton confirmed Shepherd and Davies would be in the squad of 14 and added both were welcome additions.

"We've been up against it with injuries and suspension and we want players competing in every position."

Shepherd has not played since scoring twice in the third round FA Cup qualifying tie and could come in for the 39-year-old Phil Stant.

Ian Cottrill is out after his knee seized up following Dr Martens Premier clash with Tiverton Town and the veteran of more than 400 games for the Blue and Whites is due to see a specialist.

Midfielder Paul Carty is battling to recover from an Achilles and calf injury that has plagued him all season.

Goalkeeper Danny McDonnell, who has been on the bench for City's last two FA Cup matches is edging back to full fitness but faces stiff competition to wrestle the number one jersey from Paul Wyatt who has kept the shirt since the third game of the season.

Wyatt pulled off a superb reflex save in Monday night's defeat of Belper to deny them a first half equaliser and has been on the losing side just twice in 16 games since replacing the injured McDonnell.

"Danny knows there's competition for his place and it's going to be a tough decision choosing between them but that's part of the managers job to make such decisions."
