INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed company Carl Rosa Opera will be treating audiences at Malvern Theatres to an authentic production of Pirates of Penzance.
The score they will be singing from has been scrupulously researched by the world's leading Gilbert and Sullivan expert, Dr David Russell Hulme.
The company is making its first appearance in Malvern this year having brought acclaimed performances of The Mikado, Iolanthe, Yeoman of the Guard and Die Fledermaus to the theatre in 2000.
Their costumes are devised along the lines of the 1879 Savoy costume designs, and the script is as true to the lost original as possible. Thanks to Dr Hulme's research, the original finale, featuring Hymn to the Nobility, can be heard in all its glory. Other favourites, including I am the Very Model of a Modern Major General and A Policeman's Lot is not a Happy One, are also on the score.
The show will run from Monday, November 5, to Saturday, November 10. Tickets are available from the box office 01684 892277.
