THE heyday of the Wurlitzer organ is being kept alive by a Redditch teenager who has won a prestigious national music competition, writes Julian Seva.
Adam Evans, 15, of Croft Close, Winyates, scooped Young Theatre Organist of the Year at Woking last week.
The Arrow Vale Community High School pupil beat five other musicians to win a chain of office, silver trophy and £100.
The event, sponsored by the American Theatre Organ Society, could open the door for Adam to compete at an international competition in the USA next year.
Adam's feat was all the more impressive as he only practices on the huge organs once a month in Solihull.
