MORE than 100 people have already signed up for educational courses offered by the town's first internet caf in Smallwood, writes Becky Procter.
The Knowledge Caf, based at Park House, opened its doors in May after being set up by computer firm Interact 21 with NEW College and homeless charity Step Out Drop In.
The several hundred thousand pound project is supported by the European Social Fund and offers people the chance to learn new skills, including basic numeracy and literacy.
And as part of the non-profit making project, a crche is being developed inside the building, which is also the base for Step Out Drop In and Smallwood Alliance.
The caf also offers cooking courses for users, including ones designed for people living on a tight budget.
An information, advice and guidance area where people can drop in for advice on housing, benefits, health, sex and drugs is also being developed.
The caf is open from 9.30am- 4.30pm Monday to Friday.
