IN Division Three of the Malvern Table Tennis League Ben Salisbury won his first set of the season and saved the whitewash of his Express Juniors team, against Malvern Juniors C.
Half the sets needed more than three games and six of the final games were won by only two points. Geoff Burford was unlucky not to win a set as he only lost to Jamie Egerton 10-12 in the fourth game, to Colin Sage in the fifth set and against Alan Sage, having lost the first two sets, he won both the next two by 12-10 and then lost the fifth at 9-11.
Crackpots B won nine sets in straight games against Manor Park Maulers but Ray Davis saved the whitewash by winning 12-10, 11-9, 11-8 against Alan Forsdike.
Ten games were only won by the minimum of two points in Police's match with Malvern Juniors A and four sets went to extra games so the score line of 1-9 is somewhat misleading. Malcolm Dalley saved the home team's whitewash.
Gavin Osemar and Joe Higgs each won three and David Smith two and the doubles with Joe for the A team.
Abbeydowne and Abbey College had a match where the ball swung from side to side.
After the doubles they were three all and then games alternated so that a point was still at stake in the final set which the College won by 8-11 in the fourth game.
RESULTS: Manor Park Maulers 1, Crackpots 'B' 9; Police A 1, Malvern Juniors 9; Abbeydowne 5, Abbey College 5; MP Express Juniors 1, Malvern Juniors C 9.
