Harriers had two more players booked in quick succession: Sall seeing yellow for a bad late challenge on Walters and Stamps cautioned for a foul on Mauge.
The home side took the lead on 33 minutes when Broughton laid a fine ball off to Bennett who nipped in past full-back Jones and drilled a tremendous shot into the corner of the net from the edge of the box.
The visitors' Plummer was booked for hauling down Bennett on 36 minutes.
Mauge limped off a minute later to be replaced by Gall.
Referee Danson took his fifth booking on the stroke of half-time after yellow-carding Bryant for a foul on Larkin 20 yards out.
Stamps' free-kick from the edge of the box was blocked by the Bristol defence.
